What is a day in Savannah like?
“Savannah is so beautiful that the dead never truly depart” -James Caskey
What is a day In Savannah Like?
The Cathedral bells ringing,
pattering feet of tourists and students rush as they head to their next destination. Coffee house? Tour bus? Who’s that polite old man at the French café? What’s his story? Who’s that girl sitting on the park bench? What’s her story?
Click, clack, click, clack my loafers go as each heel meets the brick. With each breath, I take in what Savannah has to offer; peace, serenity and the antiquity of every building I pass. Driving by, I travel through each square in the center of the street, filled with an abundance of moss trees, paved bricks and little squirrels dancing and greeting the locals. I drive past the bridge on River Street, filled with heart shaped locks, similar to the Pont des Arts in Paris. I pass by Bull Street, and admire the old gentleman’s booth of paintings, filled with culture and stories. Because that’s Savannah, a town full of stories; a town full of history.
Places to visit while your here...
Savannah has so much to offer! From restaurants, cafes to even gorgeous architecture, there's a lot to explore...so here's a few of my favorite places!
Cafe's
I love trying out new coffee places! Each one has something unique to offer for instance, SCAD students favorites are Foxy Loxy and Franklins. Both offer an adorable settings from courtyards to even seating facing savannahs beautiful homes, as well as the best coffee and tacos!
However, if you want a fun/immersive experience, the Parisian Market and Blue Door are also popular spots! The Parisian Market offers adorable spots Instagram photos as well as two floors to shop their best Parisian picks, from furniture, books, beauty to even unique décor pieces! Although I do love my Parisian items, I can't resist Blue Door's cool, immersive experience. What kind you ask? If your a fan of Star Wars, Marvel, and all action movies, Blue Door has the coolest décor; posters, action figures and more cover their walls! I recommend trying their popular Into Darkness Iced Coffee, as well as their Ronald Cheasley, (grilled cheese) ;)!
The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist
Established in the late 1700's, this beautiful structure is one of savannahs most admirable landmarks! After numerous years of worshiping the larger Cathedral as we know today, was built in the 1870's. Featuring Italian white marble, and a French Gothic style, this church offers a stunning interior. It's a great, quick stop when visiting savannah!
Broughton and River Street
If you love to shop, or walk around, Broughton and River Street are perfect for you! Filled with shops and restaurants, Broughton and River Street contain numerous historic buildings and are extremely close. So, once finished with one street, you can quickly move on the the next! A few of my favorite stores are The Mad Hatter, (for berets, River St), Parisian Market, (Café/Shop, Broughton), and Savannahs famous Savannah Candy Kitchen, (River St.).
SCAD Story
Thanks to SCAD, this ghost town is now alive! The Savannah College of Art and Design has grown to be one of the biggest art schools! From animation, fashion to even illustration, SCAD has an abundance of majors as well as gorgeous, restored buildings, (specifically 88)! SCAD Story, located on Bull Street, is SCAD's first, original brick building! It is known for an

artsy, animated short, on how the college began, most people describe it as a short Disney ride! After the animation, you can then shop SCAD's adorable merch and alumni artwork!
